Washington, DC – Last night, U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) released the following statement after South Dakota Republican Senator John Thune was selected to serve as the new Senate Majority Leader:

“Back in March, I announced my strong support for Senator John Thune as our next Majority Leader,” said Senator Mullin. “He’s an experienced leader, a good friend, and just like President Trump, he’s ready to lead on Day One to advance the America First policy agenda. I’m confident that under the leadership of Donald Trump, Leader-elect Thune, and Speaker Johnson—Republicans will finally get America back on track.”

President-elect Donald Trump said in a statement on Truth Social, in part: “Congratulations to Senator John Thune, the Newly Elected Senate Majority Leader. He moves quickly, and will do an outstanding job. I look forward to working with him.”
