Mullin Releases Statement Following Continuing Resolution Vote

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) released the following statement after his vote on the Continuing Resolution to keep the government funded.

“We wanted to raise the debt limit to eliminate Chuck Schumer’s leverage and put President Trump in the best possible position to succeed. Friday’s bill, while imperfect and unideal, kept the government open, provided necessary aid to farmers and disaster victims, and secured some important wins for the incoming Trump administration. I was a reluctant yes. To be clear: it never should have come to this. If Leader Chuck Schumer did his job and brought individual appropriations bills to the floor, through regular order, we wouldn’t be in this mess. Thanks to the American people, liberal Democrats are no longer in charge. Bottom line: Washington is broken, we have a lot of work to do. One thing is clear: the American people have spoken, and better days ahead under President Donald J. Trump. While I’m frustrated today, I’m grateful to be in this fight. My Senate GOP colleagues and I are ready to work alongside President Trump to Make America Great Again.”
